Watercolor for Newbies is a Zoom Online class that takes place on three consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 3, 10 and 17, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. PDT

It's fun to see people get comfortable with this lovely medium that is wonderfully versatile. It's deceptively simple, but very, very powerful if you take time to learn about it.

Watercolor can be used for many different styles of artwork, and I hope that the basics I'll share will allow you to go in any direction you like with it that suits you. This class comes from the perspective of a science illustrator whose focus is to have a lot of control over the medium at all times, so that's a set of skills I'll emphasize.

*NOTE!* If you don't have the supplies listed in the class description, please let me buy and ship the supplies to you. My goal is to remove barriers to participation! This isn't the best time to be wandering through art supply stores looking for materials if you are concerned about your health. Click here to buy the supply package and have it mailed directly to you. The cost is $135 (straight pass-through, no mark-up), which includes US shipping. This option is available until Sept. 19.

A few other notes:

1. The class will take place via Zoom. I'll send the link to you on the Monday before your first Saturday class. It takes a few minutes to log in, so plan on starting that process about 15 minutes before the class starts.

2. You'll need to know how to use Zoom. If you are new to it and are at all concerned about using it, let's find a time to log on together before the class so you're all set to go when the class starts. I won't be able to trouble-shoot Zoom issues once the class starts.

3. If you need to cancel, a 50% refund will be provided up to one week ahead of the first class. Cancellations can't be processed after that.
